When you see these two human beings’ simple joy at being “allowed” to be who they are, it can only be a beautiful thing.
I believe that every time chauvinism and oppression are replaced by inclusiveness and self-determination the world becomes a better place and human beings become more human. And more humane. The thing about “gays in the military,” is that even as we promote civil rights, we simultaneously reinforce that military industrial complex that Eisenhower warned us about so long ago. Is the only way to prove your equality and worth to prove that you can be part of a “fighting force?” Why not,
